Lia Wälti is one of the most prominent Swiss female footballers of her generation. As captain of the Swiss national team, a winner of international titles at club level and a committed advocate for visibility and the development of young talent in sport, she is making a significant impact on Swiss women’s football far beyond the pitch.

Born on 19 April 1993 in Heimiswil (BE) and raised in Langnau im Emmental, Lia Wälti plays in central midfield and has been among the world’s best for many years. Her career took her from YB Women via 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam to Arsenal, where she quickly established herself as a key player. She won the UEFA Women’s Champions League with Arsenal in 2025. As captain of the Swiss national team, she led her team at UEFA Women’s EURO 2025 in Switzerland, among other tournaments, and made a significant impact on the tournament as the host nation’s leading player.
