Noelle Maritz was born on 23 December 1995 in the USA and moved to Switzerland with her family as a child. Her immense talent became apparent at an early age, and she initially developed her skills in Swiss clubs before venturing into top-level international football at the age of 17. At VfL Wolfsburg, she quickly established herself at the highest level, winning several German league titles, DFB Cups and, in 2014, the UEFA Women’s Champions League. In 2020, she moved to Arsenal in the English Women’s Super League and later to Aston Villa, where she continues to impress as a reliable and versatile defender.
Since making her debut for the Swiss national team in 2013, Noelle Maritz has been a mainstay in defence. With over 130 international caps, she brings a wealth of international experience to the table and is renowned for her strength in one-on-one situations, her vision and her tactical discipline. She is versatile and can play in several positions, and is a key leader both on and off the pitch. With her consistency, professionalism and team spirit, she is a role model for young female footballers and a central pillar of the Swiss national team.
